OOTN Outfit Of The Night #1

Dress - Apricot
Shrug - Monsoon
Clutch - Primark
Shoes - Black Heels Primark
Just a quick post your you lovelies today and it is an 'Outfit of the Night'. This is my first outfit post and it wasn't actually intended (hence why the shoes are cut off), but I thought I would share it with you guys anyway. The shoes are just plain black suede heels, in case you were wondering.

So the main feauture of this outfit is obviously the dress. I love dresses from Apricot. I think they are so pretty and so affordable, I picked this one up in the sale and I think it was only £10.

The shrug is just a plain black cardigan style shrug from Monsoon which I have had for years and it is so versatile and the quality is great.

The clutch is one that I picked up from Primark fairly recently for £6. It is quite big for a clutch which i like, there was also a choice of this colour and turquoise. I did want both but I had to think of the old purse strings!

I hope you enjoyed this post, if you have done any outfit posts link them to me in the comments!

Book Review: Jackie Collins 'Poor Little Bitch Girl'

So I have never read a Jackie Collins book before as I am more of a Chick-Lit kind of a gal however when I fancied reading something a bit racier, without going into 50 Shades of Grey territory I thought a Jackie Collins books would tick all the boxes.

After reading several book reviews and umming and ahhing over which book to go for I went for a fairly recent release ‘Poor Little Bitch Girl’.

What I really enjoyed about this book is that each chapter is based around a different character so you get to know them all individually as their stories intertwine. You have Annabelle Maestro, the daughter of two movie stars who lives in New York and runs her own escorting business with her drug addict boyfriend Frankie. Annabelle’s life is thrown upside down when her mother is murdered. The one person she can turn to for help in her time of need is her best friends Carolyn, however she has her own problems as she is having an affair with a married Senator. Enter Denver, Denver used to be close friends with Annabelle at high school but they drifted apart and now she is a top attorney. When she is drawn in to help with the murder case she enters into a world she hated as a youngster but could things be looking up for her?

Throughout the book you have affairs, murders, money and a little bit of celebrity just for good measure. As I said I was looking for something a bit racier and this book had me gripped! At some points I just didn’t want to put it down to find out what was going to happen next.

This is a fabulous read and it definitely won’t be the last I read from Jackie Collins. It’s the kind of book I think you would enjoy if you like TV programmes like ‘Gossip Girl’, in that it can be quite dark but with glamour thrown in as well.

Have you read anything from Jackie Collins?

MyVitamins 'True Woman Hair, Skin & Nails'

I have been taking multivitamins for about a year now and since I have started taking them I have felt so much better in myself so when I was offered the chance to try some vitamins from MyVitamins I jumped at the chance. The vitamins I chose to try were the ‘True Woman Hair, Skin and Nails’ multivitamins*

First things first I think that how easy the tablets are to take and how they make you feel are just as important as the results that they give. I have come to this conclusion as I have tried some cheaper vitamins that are available on the market before and some have tasted absolutely disgusting and others have left me feeling quite unwell and bloated. These vitamins are very easy to swallow, they do not leave a bad taste in your mouth and they settled in my stomach with no problem at all.

Now the results. I have to say I am extremely impressed with these vitamins. It might be a state of mind thing but these really made me feel better about myself. The visible results were mostly in my nails, they have never been in better condition! I am one for biting my nails, yes I know its bad you can tell me off later, but after taking these my nails are really strong and grew like no bodies business! I didn’t really notice a huge difference in my skin or hair but honestly if you want something to help improve your vitamin intake and nails then these are just the thing.

You can buy these from MyVitamins here costing £6.49 for 30 tablets which I think is a pretty good price to pay for multivitamins.

Do you take any vitamins or supplements?

No 7 Natural Blush 'Candy Pink'

I'm sure we all love getting those money off No 7 vouchers from Boots and this is one of my favourite purchases from getting one of those little beauties. The natural blush in Candy Pink is a fantastic all round blush that is the kind of shade that everyone needs in their makeup collection.
As you can see this is a well loved, and well worn blush. I really like the colour and it builds up on your cheeks really well.
I have to say I am a fan of a pink blush and this one is no exception. If you are a regular reader of my blog you will know that I am quite pale and this gives my cheeks a nice pop of colour. The pigmentation is great and it does last a really long time on your skin.

Next time the money off vouchers come out try and pick up one of these, as I said this is an all round fantastic blush!

NOTD: Essie 'Sweet Talker'

Just a quick NOTD post today and its another one from Essie. I am really getting into my Essie nail varnish, I love the colours that they do and the quality of them is just fantastic. Today I am wearing 'Sweet Talker' which is a beautiful shade of light blue. I do not own any other colours like it and think it is a great pastel shade for the summer.

B. Pure Micellar Water

With all the hype surround Micellar Water on the old blogosphere I decided I just had to give it a go. My weapon of choice is the B.Pure Micellar Water which is a range available in Superdrug.
Micellar water works to cleanse, tone and refresh your skin in one easy step. Anything that makes my routine easier is a big tick in my book.
Before I started using this product I was using face wipes to remove my makeup before cleansing. I bought this product to use instead of wipes as I read that they were not necessarily the best thing to use on your skin. I also thought it would be more cost effective as I was going through face wipes at a record pace.
I simply wipe a cotton pad of the water over my face and to my surprise it removes my makeup sp easily and gently.  On days that I have not worn makeup and am feeling lazy I just use this rather than a cleanser and my face still feels really clean.
Another way I have used this recently is as a quick refresher in the mornings. I took this on holiday and used it in the mornings rather than taking my entire skin care routine and it worked wonders just to remove any residue from the moisturiser that I had used the night before.
Since I have been using this I have seen an improvement in my skin overall and would recommend it over face wipes any day of the week.
I managed to get this in Superdrug when it was on offer for £3.32, its normal price is £4.99. A little really goes a long way with this product so I do not think I will need to buy any more any time soon however when I do run out I will definitely repurchase, even at full price.
What do you think of Micellar Waters?

What I Have Been Buying This Week

So I have been doing a little bit of shopping this week and thought I would share with you lovely lot what I have bought.

First things first this gorgeous duvet set from Asda. It has a really nice hot pink and white print and was an absolute bargain in the sale at £5.50 from £12. I was actually quite suprised at the bedding range that Asda sell as they stock some really pretty designs at affordable prices.

Next I have Mariah Carey's Greatest Hits, don't judge me! I am a big Mariah fan and did have a copy of her greatest hits from years ago but it vanished off the face of the earth so thought I would replace it. One thing that I have really got into doing is buying albums off eBay as they are generally alot cheaper than buying them from other wesbites or in shops. To give you an example this cost just 50p, bargain!

Now I come to a product that I am really eager to try but I am just finishing off using my previous product, this is a heat defence spray with argan oil from Pound Land. I have found Pound Land products to be a bit hit and miss but I am looking forward to using this and will keep you guys updated.

I absolutely love H & M, it is one of my favourite high street shops. So when I walked past the other day and saw they had their sale on I was super excited. This photo does not give this summer dress justice. It is a really pretty design and cut, its is fitted around the waist and is backless. I love this as a summer dress as it is really light and airy. Before the sale this dress was £14.99, I picked it up for just £7!

The other item I got in H & M was this gorgeous denim floral print skirt. £20 down to £10, cannot complain! I also think this is something that I will get a lot of wear out of.

What have you been buying this week?

Shave, Epilate or Wax?....That is the Question

Since it is the summer, although you wouldn’t have guessed from the recent weather in England, I thought I would do a post to show you the 3 ways that I use in my hair removal routine.

Depending on the situation, how long I want to be fuzz-free and how much time I have on my hands will determine which of the 3 methods I use. I either shave, wax or epilate.

First of all is my most used method of hair removal which is shaving. This is the most popular way for most women as it is quick, easy and pain free. The tools I use for the job are the Venus Gillette Embrace razor and a shaving gel. I love the Gillette Venus razors as I find that they give such a close shave and are really affordable. The shaving gel that I am using at the minute is one from Superdrug, it is one for sensitive skin and contains aloe vera. I suffer from a bit of eczema on my legs so try and use products that are designed for sensitive skin on them whenever I can.

Next up is epilating. Many people are put off by the thought of epilating, yes this device does look and sound terrifying but honestly once you have done it once it is a godsend. The epilator that I use is the Satinelle Ice Premium from Philips. If anybody does not know how an epilator works basically the head contains tiny tweezers that pull each of your hairs out, it’s not as scary as it sounds! What I really like about this epilator is the ice pack on the back. You stick this in the freezer about an hour or so before you want to epilate and then put it back on, the epilator glides over your skin and the ice pack cools it down so it hardly hurts at all. What is also great about this particular epilator is that it can be plugged in and charged, no wasting money on batteries! I find that if I epilate the results generally last between 1 and 2 weeks before I have to de-fuzz again.

My final and most effective way of hair removal is waxing. This may take a lot more time and effort than the other 2 ways but I find the results last longer, generally 2-3 weeks.  If I am going on holiday then waxing is what I go for every time. The waxing strips that I have at the moment are the Soft and Smooth waxing strips from Avon. I find that they are really affordable as they are often on offer and they do a great job at getting rid of the hair.

Elemis Fresh Skin Super Boost Moisturising Serum

I initially purchased this Elemis serum when I was suffering from really dry skin when we had the cold burst and it really helped to get my skin back under control. I have been using it ever since and even though my skin is not dry any more it works wonders. This is part of the Elemis ‘Fresh Skin’ range which is targeted at younger skin.

The super boost moisturising serum provides ‘intensive hydration for glowing and radiant skin’.
I use this in my evening routine. I cleanse and tone my face and then use this, I only need to use a small amount to see a difference. I apply it onto my skin and rub in, I then leave it a couple of minutes to really soak into my skin before applying moisturiser.

What I love about this serum is that it doesn’t leave any residue on your skin or leave it looking at all greasy. After a couple of minutes it has completely soaked into your skin leaving it feeling incredibly soft with a healthy glow. My skin looks brighter and plumper.

I really like this serum and will be purchasing again whenever mine runs out, which could be a while since you only need a very small amount each day! I love how it makes my skin look and feel and cannot recommend it enough.
